Guess you re talking about the "Petit Pierre" with its 2 cylinder diesel engine.
Rudolf Diesel was on board during its maiden voyage which was in 1903 and not in 1902...perhaps the non- official one was already in 1902 or they finished the work on the ship in 1902.
