It is pronounced "Jorje Sand"


That was a writing pseudonym for the french female writer


Aurore Du Devan...she preferred the male name, so she could get published. 200 years ago, the female writers were very rare, and were not taken seriously.


So, she tried to act advance, she smoked, she wrote, she would put on pants, things unheard of...at that time.
